For me, I do neither, but wouldn't mind my backgrounds being an animation. <=) As I do find backgrounds fairly important to artwork. As they set a tone and mood. They help too build a pallete for me. I find the pastel coloration works great for me. I typically enjoy using yellows over greens. Infact if ever done a color picker, it is kind of no secret that I do not use much greens due to how inferating they are to work with.
